Hi! I’m Riho, a craft beer enthusiast
I revisited Sakamichi Brewing in Tachikawa, Tokyo (東京・立川) after about a year!Opened in March 2020, this brewery was co-founded by Matthew Boyton from the UK and Daniel Bellamy from the US.Pint-size pours & BYOF (bring your own food) — a winning formula backed by an Untappd rating of 3.82.
📅 Published March 2026, based on a February 2026 visit
Even though it’s been about a year since my last visit, I was amazed by how much the beer quality has evolved! Their growth since the in-house brewing equipment went into full operation is impressive.
✨ Facilities & Atmosphere
A glass-fronted shop about 6 minutes’ walk from Tachikawa Station’s South Exit. The brewing equipment (600L/batch x 3 tanks) is visible up close from inside, giving you the authentic brewery atmosphere. The warm wood-tone interior is comfortable for both solo visitors and groups.
In December 2024, a second location “Sakamichi North” opened at Tachikawa Station’s North Exit. The brewery values community bonds, with crowdfunding supporters even participating in collaborative beer development.

🍺 Beer Experience: Authentic Craft Beer in Pint Size
Sakamichi Brewing’s biggest draw is their pint-size (approx. 473ml) pours. The flagship “Shibasaki Session IPA” (4.5%) features aromatic Amarillo hops with solid umami beneath its sessionable lightness. The “Big Ticket IPA” earns an Untappd 3.99, delivering classic American IPA flavors.
