About This Beer
Characteristics
This is a Weissbier, also known as Weizen. It’s a fruity beer that uses over 50% wheat in the grain bill. On a somewhat unrelated note, there’s also Berliner Weisse – a style brewed around Berlin, Germany, sometimes served with fruit syrup. I think it has a strong “local beer” character. I’m a fan, so I thought I’d mention it.
Availability Period
I bought it around May when it was imported.
Where to Buy
I purchased it at Seijo Ishii.

Beer Review
Appearance
Hazy enough that you can barely see through to the other side.
Aroma
Orthonasal Aroma
Quite yeasty fruitiness with a slight rawness? Earthiness? Wild character.
Retronasal Flavor
Strong banana notes. Sweet. The luxurious banana character is very enjoyable.
Taste
Mouthfeel
Gentle wheat-derived quality. Reminiscent of witbier.
Body and Texture
The Swallow
★バナナのようなエステル香が綺麗に喉から鼻に広がる。とても美味しい。
カラメルっぽさも少しあって映画館のポップコーン。
Aftertaste
A long finish of gentle hop bitterness (floral, lemon, slight citrus peel) and banana-like notes. There’s a hint of yeast-driven earthiness with a slightly wild quality, but it’s not strong.
Overall Impression
The banana expression is beautifully done. Perhaps everything else exists to highlight the banana notes that emerge at the moment of swallowing? It was incredibly delicious!
Sediment
Is this banana juice?? The banana aroma is so intense it’s almost laughable. The floral nuances are also intense, as is the wild character. The sediment portion alone is so good I’d want a full pint of it. You could mix it in, but the sediment is so exceptional that I’d recommend drinking it separately. Even after swallowing – banana juice. A slight caramel quality? Like a movie theater. So good!
