What Kind of Craft Beer Is This?

Beer Characteristics

Sapporo Kaitakushi Beer Brewery is a craft beer maker in Sapporo (Hokkaido), built on the birthplace of Japanese beer brewing.
They brew their beer with the same Sapporo spring water used since those early days, crafting each batch with care.
Kaitakushi Beer Alt is a top-fermented beer with a reddish-brown color reminiscent of brick.
It features a moderate bitterness from roasted malt with a smooth mouthfeel.

Craft Beer Review

Appearance

A clear, transparent brown

Aroma

Orthonasal Aroma

Roasted notes with sweet sugar candy and red candy-like sweetness. Classic lager-style hops with a slight American bubblegum character.

Retronasal Flavor

Fundamentally clean like water. A stimulating quality that could lead to ginger-like spiciness. Beautiful. It leaves a lovely roasted impression without being overbearing. Clean.

Taste

Mouthfeel

No harshness at all. It hits the palate naturally like water. Gentle. Enchanting. Slides smoothly into the mouth.

Body and Texture

It slides in smoothly like water, departing while leaving a tea-like toasty quality. The body is moderately heavy, with a lingering grape skin impression.

The Moment of Swallowing

I was surprised by the definite dank quality. It feels a bit lacking without carbonation, but the tea-like impression remains. Delicious. Plus that dank character. A toasty quality like grape or citrus.

Aftertaste

Dry. Yet a peach-like, mint-like refreshing quality with a slight spiciness lingers. Delicious.

Bottom of the Glass

Nearly the same as the main body. Grape skin impression. Delicious. Slightly more concentrated.

Overall Impression

水のような口あたり、ワインのような口の中でのAromaの広がり方、その奥にあるラガー系のビールらしい草っぽさ、ホップ感、飲み込むときのたしかなダンク感。しっかりクラフトビールしていて本当においしい。Kaitakushi Beer Alt Review – Sapporo Craft Beerでした！
