Craft Beer Review

Appearance

Clear gold

Aroma

Orthonasal Aroma

Green apple and alcohol, with a hint of melon in the background. Apple. Intense hop character. Impression of Citra’s ripe melon. Additionally, a slightly earthy impression mixed with alcohol. You can sense this is a heavy beer.

Retronasal Flavor

Refreshing. Smooth with no catch, carrying a slightly earthy, bitter-mango impression that glides effortlessly down the throat. Beautiful. It leaves behind a clean aroma of Comet’s strong black tea character mixed with alcohol. The pleasant chicle-like sensation from Mosaic that lingers after drinking — like the sweetness of gum that’s lost its flavor — is wonderfully comforting.

Taste

Mouthfeel

Natural, beer-like mouthfeel.

Body and Texture

Refreshing as water. Even resting on the tongue, it remains gentle. There’s a clarity to it. On the other hand, when you swish it around in your mouth, the intense hop-derived bitterness definitely asserts itself. While giving a slight marmalade impression, it maintains a beautiful water-like texture — truly gorgeous. The hop bitterness never interferes with the watery foundation. Mesmerizing. The mouthfeel is incredibly gentle, yet it appeals to the throat and nose with its richness — this balance is endearing. So gentle.

The Swallow

No catch, no dankness whatsoever. It’s no different from drinking water. Beautiful finish going down the throat. For 9% ABV, this drinkability is incredible. Like drinking a low-proof whisky. After swallowing, mandarin and marmalade-like citrus flavors linger in the mouth. Incredibly delicious. Beautiful.

Aftertaste

The aftertaste feels like eating a luxurious citrus peel sorbet. Marmalade-like citrus lingers long in the mouth. Delicious.

Overall Impression

A beer as beautiful as water. I think it would have been even better fresh, but it was still incredibly delicious even slightly aged. The water-like impression continues from the initial mouthfeel all the way through the swallow, yet the aroma remains richly concentrated. I absolutely love this contrast. My favorite beer in recent memory. Absolutely, truly delicious.

Sediment

The citrus flavors intensify. The astringency is restrained, about the level of eating citrus fruit peel. You should definitely pour off the sediment separately. That said, it’s tasty in its own way. I’d love to pour this over ice cream or drink it with toast. A slight yeast harshness can also be detected.
