LITTLE BEAST /Maiden West IPA (West Coast IPA 6.1%)

■Appearance
Clear with slight haze. I think it’s amazing how clear it is even though they used oats.

■Aroma (anterior nasal receptors)
Moderate dry hopping? The aroma isn’t fresh so has it evaporated?
Strong passion fruit feel. Mosaic? I thought, but it was Simcoe. I don’t really understand the difference between Mosaic and Simcoe. The tropical character is also quite prominent.

Slightly oily aroma?

■Aroma (posterior nasal receptors)
★Intense Citra here★ Strong melon-like character. This use of Citra is incredibly cool. Citra that appeals to the anterior receptors is so common that I feel a bit tired of it. On the other hand, Citra that strongly appeals only here might be fresh.

■Mouthfeel
Maybe not that much oats? Gentle but with a slight carbonation sting. That kind of gentleness.

■Body and texture
The malt is quite restrained. All hops forward, but there’s body and drinkability. I think it’s because they’re using solid malt, but ★the malt doesn’t come through in the flavor★ which is incredibly cool. I really like it.

When it warms up, the malt’s cookie character comes out a bit, but the hops are still strong. Just a slight atmosphere like marmalade jam on bread crust. Very WCIPA-like and I love it

■The moment of swallowing
Passion! Lemon! Mint! Marmalade! Swallowed the hops!

■Aftertaste
A marmalade-like bitterness lingers for a long time. Very delicious.

■Overall impression
Hops pushed to the forefront, with malt and oats existing to enhance the hops, the best WCIPA. Love it♡

■Off-flavors

■Bottom
I really feel the oats. Neither harsh nor astringent but slippery. Slippery. I think it’s fine to mix it.
