Beer: Smog City 13th Anniversary IPA
An IPA celebrating Smog City’s 13th anniversary.
This time the spotlight is on Alora, a relatively new hop variety, with HBC 586 and Citra as support hops.
Alora is characterized by vivid peach and nectarine-like aromas and flavors.
Combined with HBC 586’s lychee, pineapple, and mango tropical notes and Citra’s citrus character, it creates a complex and captivating fruitiness.
American-Style India Pale Ale is characterized by strong hop flavor and bitterness with restrained malt sweetness. Hop aromas range from fruity to citrus to pine, with ABV typically between 5.5% and 7.5%.
Rich hop aromas with particularly prominent citrus and tropical fruit notes. Pine and grassy nuances are also present, giving an overall very fresh impression.
Deduction Reason: Malt aroma is slightly understated; with a bit more balance it would have been perfect.
Ripe peach, pine, nectarine, kiwi-like alcohol warmth, ripe dragon fruit
