Characteristics

A WCIPA using Sabro and Simcoe hops with coconut-like nuances.

A clear, clean IPA featuring Simcoe and Sabro hops. Tropical aromas of lime, coconut, pineapple, and lemongrass balanced with subtle cedar bitterness and crisp malt flavor.

Beer Review

Appearance

No chill haze whatsoever? Crystal clear. Beautiful clarity with no haze other than condensation. Plus there’s solid malt backbone — not too light.

Aroma

Orthonasal Aroma

White wine-like, chicle-like, and fruity. Dry-hopped with Mosaic and Nelson perhaps? Slightly grassy with a hint of red wine. As it warms, acidity emerges. Rich acidity.

Retronasal Flavor

Strong chicle character. Mint and flavor-spent gum. Heavy Simcoe in the whirlpool perhaps? The refreshing sensation through the nose after swallowing is stunningly beautiful! Floral elegance with grape and Fanta-like refreshingness. Not cloying!

Taste

Mouthfeel

Beer-like. Slightly watery.

Body and Texture

For this brewery, remarkably strong malt with good body. Full-bodied. A mellow, slightly cookie-like malt with acidic hop character. Bitterness is quite restrained. No shock factor — very sessionable and easy-drinking. A deep mango-like sweetness. I think it’s thanks to the Sabro. Sabro in the whirlpool or early hop addition? Coconut-like protein quality. Rich. Milky.

The Swallow

Elegant yet eye-catching. Some acidity emerges. Beautiful — no harshness on the throat.

Aftertaste

A slight milky, soapy note in the finish? Definitely not from residual cleaner — likely yeast-related. Plus Sabro’s characteristic milkiness and oiliness. Berry notes and chicle linger. Simcoe多め？

Overall Impression

My impression of Pizza Port was always light, easy-drinking beers. But this one is rich and full-bodied. Really excellent. The milky character from Sabro is well-handled, and the passionfruit notes from Simcoe are beautiful. The malt is used to showcase the hops, which I truly appreciate.

Dregs

Not residual cleaner — a solvent quality from chemical reactions. Simcoe and yeast interaction? The mouthfeel is remarkably gentle relative to the aroma and flavor. Water chemistry? The acidity feels stronger and the yeast spiciness more pronounced. More interesting when separated.
