What Kind of Craft Beer Is This?

Beer Characteristics

A limited release using Phantasm powder, which generates massive aromatic compounds and has been gaining attention in the American beer industry in recent years.

The hops include Mosaic, Southern Aroma (a South African variety), and 843 (a special variety developed in the Yakima Valley, Washington, funded by Stone) – all notable varieties. A gem packed with tropical and juicy citrus character! The aroma features candied orange, mango, dank notes, floral qualities, strawberry, and guava.

On the palate: citrus blossom honey, mango, cherry syrup, white wine, and papaya impressions.

“At the end of the day, tilting a glass of beer on your patio while watching a beautiful sunset.

If only such a wonderful, magical time could last forever” – that’s the sentiment behind the name.

*Phantasm powder is made from processed Sauvignon Blanc grape skins from New Zealand, containing large amounts of thiol precursors that explosively increase aroma.

When used correctly during brewing, it results in a beer overflowing with magnificent aromas reminiscent of tropical fruit and grapes.

Appearance

Whiskey-like gold.

Aroma

Orthonasal Aroma

Strong grape-like aroma. Hi-Chew candy. Gummy candy impression too. Like American sweets. Overwhelmingly sweet.

Retronasal Flavor

Stone’s characteristic hop-derived licorice quality. Plus strong grape. Intense chicle and cotton candy-like sweetness.

Taste

Mouthfeel

A mellow, beer-like richness.

Body and Texture

The cotton candy character is very strong. Plus chicle. Reminds me of those fluffy Fanta-flavored cotton candy snacks from the candy section as a kid. Elementary school field trips. The malt hides behind the cotton candy. The hop bitterness has a somewhat coffee-like, tea-like impression. Alcohol. Meanwhile, the cotton candy overwhelms everything.

The Moment of Swallowing

Not much dank impression. A watermelon-like, licorice-like, whiskey-like impression that quietly slides down the throat.

Aftertaste

A Stone-like licorice and mint impression mixed with cotton candy cloying sweetness in the aftertaste.

Bottom of the Glass

Strong alcohol presence, honey-like flavor. Surprisingly not spicy. Yuzu-like citrus. Would probably taste great over ice cream.

Overall Impression

Phantasmパウダー強すぎ！個人的にあまり好きではないかもです。綿菓子のような印象がつよくなりすぎました。それはそれとして、Stoneのビールとして飲むととてもいいですね！Stoneのリコリス感大好きです。Stone Patio Magic Double IPA 8.5% Reviewでした！希少ホップと話題の副原料を使ったクラシカルなStoneらしいビールでした！
