What Kind of Craft Beer Is This?

Beer Characteristics

また今年もこの季節がやってまいりました！2 years ago’s10周年IPAは強烈なダンク感と柑橘感が特徴的な王道West Coast IPA。

昨年の11周年IPAは隠し味にマスカットを使いフルーティーさに特化したハイブリッドIPAでした。

今年のテーマはホップの果汁感をたっぷりと引き出したDouble IPA。

Citra Cryo、Centennial、Strataを使いトロピカルなマンゴー、レモンキャンディー、そしてハリボーグミのようなフルーティーな特徴をフル活用しています。

普段滅多にDouble IPAを作らないSmog Cityですが、記念日を皆さんにも楽しんでもらうためにも今回は新しい試みを行いました。

Appearance

黄金の透明

Aroma

Orthonasal Aroma

Citra系の熟れたメロンとC系ホップの青りんご感、モルトの甘さをやや感じる。その奥に少し劣化した金属感をやや感じる（許容できるレベル）。香りを鼻に当てた瞬間鼻の先にStrataのストロベリーのような香りが鋭くやってくる。しかし、このストロベリーのような香りは一瞬。トップだけに残るドライさ。美しい。役割分担がはっきりしている。花の香りのようなドライさ。

Retronasal Flavor

劣化か強く、本来の味が損なわれているのを強く感じる。モルトの甘さとバニラのような甘い印象がゆっくりと口の中に広がる。ややぶどうの皮っぽい印象もあるが、劣化由来の金属のような嫌なべたっとした酸味が美しさを塗りつぶしてしまっている。しかし、Smog Cityの特徴にある美しい金属感も感じられるのでそれほどいやではない。やや土のようなビターチョコレートのような印象もある。

Taste

Mouthfeel

A natural beer-like mouthfeel with gentle peach and plum-like impressions.

Body and Texture

強めのアルコールとホップのフルーティさ。心地よい重さを感じる。舌の上で転がすとホップの青さの ざらざらした印象を存分に感じることができる。その奥に日本酒系の吟醸香のような高貴なアルコールも感じる。Smog Cityらしい金属っぽさとホップのざらざらとした印象、アルコールがまじりあってとても心地いい。

The Swallow

Pushes dankly down the throat. Fruity impression lingers after swallowing. Watermelon, blueberry-like freshness that’s never cloying. Very comfortable. Delicious.

Aftertaste

Slight grassy hop impression lingers. Otherwise, a tea-like quality – perhaps closer to English tea. Delicious. Slightly hop-forward. Moderate dryness. The metallic heavy mouthfeel doesn’t persist in the aftertaste. Fades cleanly.

Bottom of the Glass

Grassy hop impression is slightly strong. Tea-like quality too. Delicious.

Overall Impression

去年のフルーツを使った周年ビールとは異なり、今年は王道IPAでした！おいしかった！滑らかに抜けるはやりのIPA感と重々しいSmogCityらしいやや金属のようなニュアンスを含んだ印象！とてもよかったです！周年おめでとうございます！Smog City 12th Anniversary IPA 8.3%レビューでした！
