About Wanderment Brewing

Wanderment Brewing opened on June 22, 2024, co-founded by John and Melanie Flaherty along with Sam Odom. True to its name combining “wander” with passion, the brewery channels curiosity about the world and community into their beers. They brew diverse styles including mixed-culture saisons, Hazy IPAs, West Coast IPAs, and bitters. The Untappd and craft beer community have praised them as “one of Denver’s best for hazy.”

Taproom Atmosphere

The taproom is cozy yet warm and welcoming. The staff were incredibly friendly – when I mentioned I was in town for GABF, one exclaimed “My brother is at the venue today!” showcasing the local community connections. Despite opening in 2024, the atmosphere feels surprisingly established, with clearly many local regulars already.

Beers Tasted: Hazy IPA, West Coast IPA & Nitro Bitter

I enjoyed three varieties this time.

Hazy IPA vs West Coast IPA comparison: Personally, I preferred the West Coast. It was clear and crisp, yet the aroma rose vividly with outstanding balance. The Hazy was excellent too, but the West Coast’s sharp edge was truly remarkable.

Nitro Bitter: This was the most impactful beer of the visit. It maintained a chocolate-like richness without being too sweet, and paired with the smooth nitro mouthfeel, I felt like “I could drink this forever.” Few breweries refine the bitter style to this level.

Despite opening in 2024, they’ve already earned high ratings on Yelp and Untappd. Reviews frequently praise them as “one of Denver’s best for hazy” and “very welcoming staff with high beer quality.” BeerAdvocate also shows careful ratings for each beer, confirming their place in Colorado’s craft beer community.

Wanderment Brewing is a next-generation star that Denver’s craft beer scene can be proud of. The crispness of their West Coast IPA and the depth of the nitro bitter are particularly impressive. When visiting Denver for GABF, it’s well worth extending your trip north.
