Brewing Philosophy

Yorocco Beer brews with local water, British and German malts, and American hops, incorporating regional fruits and spices into diverse recipes. Their beers are characterized by being unpasteurized and unfiltered, keeping the yeast alive. Under the “Drink Local” concept, they actively participate in local events and commission label designs from local artists, fostering a community-driven craft beer culture.

Craft Beer Review

Yorocco Beer is known for its diverse styles and flavors. Peninsula Saison is a refreshing, vibrant saison, while Amber Saved My Life is a toasty amber saison. Bright Moments is a Southern German-style helles lager, light and easy to drink. Dry Hop Farmhouse Ale features distinctive hop aromas with a well-balanced taste.

Beer Characteristics

Can you ring in the new year without trying this? Our annual yuzu saison. This year we once again harvested yuzu at Watanuki Farm (aka Buscape Farm) in Fujisawa. This year’s harvest was 80 kg — a bumper crop with plenty of fruit still left on the trees. Back at the brewery, after thorough washing, our entire staff tackled the peeling. We carefully peeled the yuzu skins with peelers and sun-dried them. It’s painstaking work, but we believe this concentrates the best flavors of the yuzu. During those days, the brewery is filled with the refreshing scent of yuzu. These are days spent fully immersed in the ingredient processing that you rarely get to experience. By steeping the sun-dried peels in the beer, the concentrated flavor is released into the liquid. The result is a very refreshing beer with plenty of natural yuzu character. Please enjoy it for the New Year. Compared to last year’s, we’ve slightly toned down the yuzu flavor for better balance with the beer. This year’s batch has turned out delicious too. Appearance

Ultra clear. Beautiful.

Aroma

Orthonasal Aroma

Beautiful citrus with saison yeast-derived phenolics and yuzu intertwined. Like a yuzu bath. Hot spring.

Retronasal Flavor

Slightly plum-like acidity with grass and lemongrass-like freshness. Delicious. Refreshing. Beautiful. Somewhat grapefruit-like fruitiness. Also has a mellow impression. Complex aroma with strong phenolics. Strong floral impression. Gorgeous.

Taste

Mouthfeel

Beer-like. Slightly sticky perhaps. Due to the malt strength.

Body and Texture

Strong acidity with slightly grainy malt. Sipped slowly, it’s like a foreign candy with acidity, strong phenolics, and malt mixed together. An unfamiliar taste. The bitterness emerges at a constant rate even when held on the tongue. No extreme changes — the type you won’t tire of drinking. Beautiful. When sitting quietly on the tongue, characteristics are subtle, but rolling the liquid around in your mouth reveals strong acidity.

When you agitate it in your mouth, there’s a slightly soapy nuance. A perfect balance like extracting the best parts of watermelon with soap and salt. Delicious.

The Swallow

Goes down cleanly. No irritating elements whatsoever. Gentle. A beautiful aroma of phenolics and yuzu mixed together reaches the nose. Elegant. Some might associate it with air freshener.

Aftertaste

Refreshing as water.

Overall Impression

A wonderful beer that’s complex yet won’t cause drinking fatigue. Refreshing without any sense of thinness or lacking. Beautiful.

Sediment

Maintains its beauty, but the stimulation at the moment of swallowing is strong.
