Beer made with Tokushima’s sudachi citrus and pears — the combination of hops and local ingredients is fantastic! JouZo BEER BASE’s sours are particularly outstanding!

When I spent my youth in Anan City (Tokushima), I never imagined such an amazing brewpub would open there! Beers made with local pears and mandarin oranges tasted like home — I was truly moved.

Being able to drink beer while watching the tanks — brewpubs really are special places! I’ve never had beer made with Tokushima specialties, so I can’t wait to visit!

I visited JouZo BEER BASE taproom, a local brewery! Let me share the tap list and atmosphere. I spent five years of my youth in Anan City (Tokushima), and I never dreamed a brewpub would open in that town.a wonderful space where you can enjoy craft beer while watching the brewing tanks — it was fantastic! I also loved how they incorporate local ingredients into their beers, which really captures the spirit of a local brewery. Being from Tokushima, I was so happy to discover such a wonderful brewpub in my hometown!

What’s a brewpub? Is it different from a beer bar?

A brewpub is a place that combines brewing equipment and a bar into one. You can enjoy freshly made beer while watching the production process. Freshness is the key!

What Is a Brewpub?

A brewpub is a bar or pub attached to a craft beer brewery. Riho loves these kinds of places and travels around Japan visiting brewpubs and breweries. Some locations are technically ‘direct-managed taprooms’ rather than true brewpubs since the bar is separate from the brewing facility, but this blog covers them all as brewpubs.

A new brewery in Tokushima. Pat from 2nd Story Ale Works told me, “A brewery with great beer just opened in Anan,” and I was incredibly curious to check it out.

What does JouZo mean? How do you read it?

It’s read “JouZo.” It comes from the Japanese word “jouzo” (醸造), meaning “to brew.” The concept of “brewing” both beer and community is wonderful.

JouZo BEER BASE Access Information

About 40 minutes by train from Tokushima Station, then a 19-minute walk from Nishihara Station!Trains run infrequently, so be careful not to miss yours！

It’s best to drive to the other two taprooms in Tokushima Prefecture. (There are no trains.) KAMIKAZ Beer’s RISE & WIN is about 34 minutes by car, and the Kamiyama Beer Project is about 47 minutes by car.

That’s right! KAMIKAZ Beer is a unique brewery that also runs a winery. The Kamiyama Beer Project was created to revitalize a depopulating area. Both are rich in local character and very appealing.

お店の雰囲気 混み具合 決済方法

年末のお昼ごろに友人と二人でお邪魔しました。予約なしでスムーズに入店できました。友人と飲んでいると、地元のお客さん？ were coming in occasionally to buy souvenir beers。地元に愛されているのを感じて、とても居心地が良かったです。PayPayが利用できました。

正面はこんな感じです。醸造所とタップルームがつながっています。

タンクも見せていただきました。

壁におしゃれな絵もありました。トイレがすごく広くてきれいだったのが印象的です。

【初心者向け解説：クラフトビール】

クラフトビールとは、小規模な醸造所で伝統的な製法と創造性を大切にして作られるビールのこと。大手メーカーの工業的なビールと比べて、より個性的で多様な味わいが楽しめます。JouZo BEER BASEでは、地元徳島の特産品を取り入れた独創的なビールを提供しています。

クラフトビール tap list（飲めるビール一覧）量と値段

クラフトビールは種類にもよりますが、380ml 800円からです。銘柄についてはSNSで最新情報を確認してください！私が訪問した際のtap listは写真の通りです。

初めてのクラフトビール、何を選んだらいいかわからないワン…

初めての場合は、フライトセット（小さなグラスで複数種類を飲み比べできるセット）を注文するといいよ。もしくはスタッフさんに「初めてなのでおすすめを教えてください」と相談してみるのも良い方法だね。

クラフトビールの感想

とてもおいしくて、汽車の時間ギリギリまでかなり飲みました。楽しかったなぁ。

れもんSaisonです。これがめちゃくちゃおいしかった！セゾンの香りとレモンの柑橘が合いまって、とても飲みやすかったです。飲み込む瞬間三ツ矢サイダーレモンを少しまぜたようなさわやかさがありました。とても心地よかったです。

【初心者向け解説：セゾン】

セゾン（Saison）はベルギー発祥のビアスタイルで、元々は夏の農作業のために醸造されていた季節限定ビール。スパイシーで果実のような香りと、さわやかな酸味が特徴です。複雑な味わいながらも爽やかで飲みやすく、食事との相性も抜群です。初めてのクラフトビールにもおすすめのスタイルです。

おっきい梨、見つけた。です。サワーもとてもとてもおいしかったです。梨は徳島県の特産品の一つです。秋月という鳴門市の甘みの強い梨を利用しているそうです。A beer with sour acidity layered on top of pear flavors and malt sweetness intertwined. I was able to experience complex sweetness and it made me very happy.

【初心者向け解説：サワービール】

サワービールは乳酸菌や酵母によって発酵過程で自然な酸味が生まれたビールです。レモネードのような爽やかな酸味があり、フルーツの風味とよく合います。特に暑い季節に飲むと清涼感があり、ビールが苦手な方でも楽しめることが多いビアスタイルです。

雪みかん de 雪だるま です。小麦の口当たりのやさしさと、ミカンの甘み、ホップの柑橘がまじりあった優しいビールでした。これも何杯でも飲めるビールだと思います。

【初心者向け解説：ウィートエール（小麦ビール）】

ウィートエール（Wheat Ale）は小麦麦芽を多く使ったビアスタイル。大麦麦芽だけで作るビールと異なり、小麦由来のまろやかで柔らかな口当たりが特徴です。フルーツとの相性が抜群で、みかんなどの柑橘系素材を加えると爽やかさがさらに引き立ちます。苦味が控えめで飲みやすいため、ビール初心者にもおすすめのスタイルです。

ホップって何？ビールの苦みの元なんだよね？

そうだよ！ホップはビールに苦味や香りを与える大切な原料なんだ。でも最近は苦味だけでなく、柑橘系や熱帯果実のような香り付けに使われることも多いんだよ。ビールの個性を決める重要な要素なんだ。

最後にHazy2種も飲みました！おいしかった！最後は時間が限られていたので、駆け足で飲んでしまいました！

【初心者向け解説：Hazy IPA (ヘイジーIPA)】

Hazy IPAはその名の通り濁り（ヘイズ）があるIPA。通常のIPAより柔らかな口当たりとジューシーな果実味が特徴で、苦味が抑えられています。強い柑橘系や熱帯果実のような香りがあり、「ジューシーIPA」や「New England IPA」とも呼ばれます。苦いビールが苦手な方でも入門しやすいIPAスタイルです。

『JouZo BEER BASE』全体的な感想

年末年始に四国へ帰省して6件のブルワリーを巡ったのですが、個人的に一番好きだったのがJouZo BEER BASEです！utilizing local ingredientsビールと、タップルームからタンクが見える開放的な雰囲気が最高でした。

徳島の特産品を使ったビールがとてもおいしかったです！また、醸造所にブルワーさんの住友さんもいらっしゃいました。醸造についてのお話を聞くことができたのもとても楽しかったです！徳島にこんなに立派なブリューパブができたんだなぁ。と、とてもうれしくなりました。徳島にお越しの際はぜひ！

ブリューパブを訪れて、スタッフさんに「初めてなのでおすすめを教えてください」と言うのが一番いいよ。飲み比べセットがあればそれを注文するのもおすすめだね。自分の好みがわかると、クラフトビールの世界がぐっと広がるよ。
