Craft Beer Review

Appearance

Clear gold with a touch of brown

Aroma

Aroma (Orthonasal)

Citrus. Cascade-like character, not Citra. Strong green apple from Centennial. Tropical fruit. Slightly toasted malt.

Flavor (Retronasal)

Black tea notes. Malt with a touch of esters and tea-like hops. The familiar Cascade, reinforced by Centennial. Rich green apple — different from the melon-like freshness of Citra hops. Dreamy.

Taste

Mouthfeel

Clean water with subtle hop character

Body & Texture

Strong malt presence. Black tea notes and toasted malt. Bitterness builds gradually. Swishing it around in the mouth, you finally pick up grassy notes. There must be a substantial amount of hops in here.

The Swallow

Strong licorice notes with green apple, tart peach and apple. The acidity is strongly apple-like. I realized that pushing Cascade and Centennial harder produces not green apple but a simple red apple. Combined with Mosaic-like sweetness, the apple character is strong throughout.

Aftertaste

Long, sweet alcohol. Green apple notes from the alcohol.

Overall Impression

Strong apple character throughout. You really feel the Centennial and Cascade. The traditional C-hop profile without melon notes, augmented by Mosaic-like sweetness, makes for an enjoyable experience.

At the Bottom

Green apple aroma. Not intensely stimulating. Regardless of temperature, there’s a softness that almost feels tepid as a texture, with a gum syrup-like sweetness and chicle quality of flavorless gum. On the other hand, there’s absolutely no obvious heat or astringency, which is impressive. Delicious.
