I tried Ise Kadoya Pale Ale in a can! It’s great that you can find this at convenience stores and supermarkets nationwide. Here’s my review.

About This Beer

Characteristics

This is the canned version of Ise Kadoya’s Pale Ale. I suspect the recipe might be different from the bottled version. I could identify the flavors, but something felt slightly off.

Beer Review

Appearance

Very hazy — can’t see through to the other side. Yellowish tone.

Aroma

Aroma (Orthonasal)

Metallic citrus notes. I detect some oxidation. As the temperature rises, strawberry-like flavors intensify. Reminiscent of the original Ise Kadoya Pale Ale. There’s a custard-like, burnt pudding character from the combination of C-hops and malt.

Flavor (Retronasal)

Tropical notes reminiscent of a Hazy IPA, red fruit characteristics, a sensation of grapefruit mixed with malt sweetness. Tasty. Some oxidation-derived acidity.

Taste

Mouthfeel

Standard beer carbonation. Slightly slack.

Body and Texture

Acidity stands out, but the malt is pronounced. You can feel a sturdy foundation. The bitterness spreads in a straightforward way. A moderately strong bitterness asserts itself from the bottom throughout. Not cloying.

The Swallow

Leaves berry-like flavors and a chicle sensation in the nose.

Aftertaste

Chicle and malt sweetness linger for a long time.

Overall Impression

Much better once it warms up. The oxidation is noticeable when cold. It’s best to drink this as something entirely different from the bottled Ise Kadoya Pale Ale. Tasty.
