Hi there! I’m Riho, a craft beer enthusiast. On my August 2025 San Diego beer trip, I finally made it to Pure Project, a brewery I’d been dreaming about since my days living in Japan! Of all the breweries I visited in San Diego, this one gave me the most modern impression — a true highlight of the trip.

They produce a wide range of high-quality styles including Hazy IPA, West Coast IPA, stout, and sour, and are particularly recognized as one of San Diego’s leading voices in the Hazy IPA space. Their North Park taproom is known as an ultra-modern, cool space that’s become a must-visit spot featured across social media.

Taproom Atmosphere

The moment you step inside, you feel “this place is on a different level.” The modern interior makes you lose track of time — industrial yet warm, striking a perfect balance. The beer lineup is constantly rotating, and just scanning the tap list builds excitement.

Beers I Had

1. Hazy IPA

Having loved this brewery since my days in Japan, the Hazy IPA delivered exactly as expected. Pure Project’s signature clean, tropical hop character was on full display, and I was thrilled to find the quality matched what I remembered from Japan.

2. Clear Beers (West Coast IPA / Pale Ale)

Surprisingly delicious is the honest take. Even in their clear beers, the hop aroma comes through beautifully, with a clean, sharp finish that’s incredibly satisfying.
