Hi there! I’m Riho, a craft beer enthusiast. This is my 100th American brewery — a milestone! The grand finale of my September 2025 Bellingham beer trip was Kulshan Brewing. When you ask locals for Bellingham recommendations, this name comes up almost every time.

What is Kulshan Brewing?

Kulshan Brewing is Bellingham, Washington’s premier craft brewery, with multiple GABF (Great American Beer Festival) awards. Their Gose is a perennial winner, earning Gold in 2022 and Bronze in 2024. Their porter “Transporter” and amber ale “Red Cap” have also won multiple Golds at Washington State awards.

The interior feels like a mountain cabin or ski lodge, with a perfect balance of warm wood and soft lighting. It’s lively yet relaxing — the kind of place you want to stay for hours. One member of our group declared, “This is my favorite spot!” It’s no exaggeration to call this the heart of Bellingham’s beer culture.

Beers I Tried

I ordered the West Coast IPA while my friend got the Hazy IPA. Both had stunning hop aromas — the WCIPA had incredible crispness, and the Hazy was juicy and smooth. Absolute perfection.
