Hello! I’m Riho, a craft beer enthusiast. In October 2025, while visiting the Denver area for GABF (Great American Beer Festival), I took a brewery tour at New Belgium Brewing in Fort Collins — an essential part of Colorado’s craft beer story.

About New Belgium Brewing

New Belgium Brewing, founded in 1991, is a veteran craft brewery based in Fort Collins, Colorado. Their flagship Fat Tire (amber ale) is widely known across the US. Built on respect for Belgian beer culture, they offer a wide range from sour beers to IPAs. They also created La Folie (Flanders red ale), considered one of America’s oldest sour beers.

Facility & Atmosphere

Brewing equipment and taproom coexist on the vast campus — a dream for beer lovers. Due to GABF, about 15 tour groups gathered during my visit. The taproom is open and spacious with terrace seating, perfect for enjoying beer in Fort Collins’ fresh air.

Brewery Tour Experience

I booked online the day before around noon and got a 12:30 PM tour the next day. At just $15, the tour was packed with value: brewing history, special beer explanations, and multiple tastings. They even gave us a tasting voucher at the end — the perfect way to learn while drinking.

Awards & Notable Recognition

New Belgium has won numerous GABF and World Beer Cup awards, with La Folie repeatedly medaling in the Flanders red ale category. Also known as an ESOP company, they lead the industry in sustainability. In 2013, they became the first American craft brewery to earn B Corp certification.
