Hi there! I’m Riho, a craft beer enthusiast. This time, I’m sharing my report on Great Notion Brewing, which I visited in Seattle’s Georgetown area in October 2025. This brewery is one of the most popular in the U.S. for sweet beers, and I finally got to visit!

What is Great Notion Brewing?

Great Notion Brewing is a craft brewery founded in 2016, headquartered in Portland, Oregon. They’re a pioneer of the “Juicy & Sweet” style, known for smoothie sours, sweet hazy IPAs, and dessert imperial stouts. They operate multiple locations in Portland and also have a taproom in Seattle.

Their label art often features charming illustrations reminiscent of a friendly Santa Claus, conveying an approachable vibe. Notably, Sam, the founder of Brujos Brewing, is said to have come from Great Notion, making them known as a talent incubator in Portland’s craft beer scene.

Seattle’s Georgetown district is a craft beer mecca with several popular breweries including Georgetown Brewing. Great Notion’s Georgetown location is right in the heart of it, making it perfect for a brewery crawl!

Taproom Atmosphere

The interior has a modern, stylish atmosphere. The tap lineup always features 10-15 options spanning smoothie sours, hazy IPAs, and imperial stouts. The vibrant colors of the beers alone make for an eye-catching display at your table!

Beers I Tried: Mochi Hazy

The standout of this visit was the “Mochi Hazy IPA.” With a unique name to match, it blends soft, sweet mochi-like flavors with hazy IPA — a beer you absolutely can’t find anywhere else.
