Appearance

Golden. Clear.

Aroma

Orthonasal Aroma

Beer, strong chicle-like bubblegum, robust licorice. Grape, a somewhat marmalade-like tea quality, sticky sugar candy — the caramelized kind. As you bring your nose closer, the citrus peel with alcohol sweetness intensifies, along with the marmalade impression.

Retronasal Flavor

Tangy, firm peach-like citrus spreads through the mouth. Pleasant. Leads to a refreshing sensation. There’s also a slightly tobacco-like impression.

Taste

Mouthfeel

Natural beer-like mouthfeel. Feels slightly heavier as the carbonation dissipates.

Body and Texture

For a Cold IPA, the malt presence is quite strong. It’s hefty. When you swish it around in your mouth, you feel considerably strong hop bitterness. Marmalade and slightly resinous, heavy citrus bitterness come through — more like a classical IPA than a Cold IPA.

The Swallow

The clean, crisp finish going down the throat is what makes this a Cold IPA. The gap between the body/texture and this moment is so fun! On the tongue it felt like a more classical beer, but the swallow is dry and delicious. You just keep chugging. Delicious.

Aftertaste

Marmalade, peach, and a toasty richness like buttered toast linger long after swallowing. Mellow and relaxed in contrast to the crisp finish. Delicious.

Overall Impression

Rich body yet dry on the swallow, with a lingering aftertaste. A wonderful beer that feels like riding a roller coaster. Delicious! It made me want to try more beers from this brewery. I’m so grateful they serve it in UK pint sizes.

Sediment

The dryness on swallowing is completely gone. Overall it’s quite heavy. Definitely pour off the sediment. That said, the intensified citrus reveals mango and nectarine-like nuances. Tasty in its own right! But it feels like a different beer.
