Craft Beer Review

Appearance

Golden. Slightly too hazy to see through completely. Not transparent but has clarity.

Aroma

Talus-like coconut. There’s almost a calculated perfume-like glamour you’d associate with Hawaii. Polarizing, but very easy to understand.

Aroma (Orthonasal)

Very strong grape skin character. Considerable Cascade-like grassiness, but the blend is beautifully clean — none of the harshness or German-hop-like quality you get from Cascade alone. Only the best qualities come through. The strong carbonation significantly enhances this. This beer is at its best when the carbonation is strong.

Flavor (Retronasal)

Floral impression — the part of Cascade I truly love. Not listed in specs but certainly present. Flowers within the grassiness. Makes you think ‘American hops’ not German. Love it. Like drinking Ramune from a candy shop as a kidののどに通る心地いいしゅわしゅわ感 それに伴ってやってくる溶かした砂糖の甘さ由来の高揚感。あの時の興奮を思い出させてくれる糖分とAromaのバランス。チクル系のミントのような心地よさもある。美しい。

Taste

Mouthfeel

Beer-like mouthfeel with tongue-tingling stimulation. Talus-like coconut impression. Not as sour as lactobacillus but with slight acidity, giving a yogurt-like quality. A beautiful blend of pineapple and kiwi acidity.

Body and Texture

Grape-like when first opened. Various nuances emerge as the temperature rises. When focusing intently on flavor, the body creates an illusion of thickness. Not thin per se, but despite not seeming thick, it feels remarkably heavy. When drinking to appreciate the boうとして飲むと、キャンディのような甘い印象を持ちつつ口に含み、口の中ではやや酸味のあるイチジクのような果実感を感じるぶどうの皮のようでもある。舌の上で味わうと、塩を付けたスイカのようなニュアンスもある。

The Swallow

Not much dank character — it slides smoothly down the back of the throat. This comfort is irresistible. Falls away cleanly. The way it drops reminds me a lot of 2nd SAW, which I love. If 2nd SAW didn’t use sudachi, it might be like this.

Aftertaste

Seems mellow at the moment of swallowing, but once swallowed it’s dry. Not much aftertaste lingers. A slight grape skin-like nuance remains. The subtle acidity resembles crushed grape skin.

Dregs

Watermelon rind-like cucumber freshness and a squishy grape skin-like acidity. Delicious. Mixing it with the main pour would work well.

Overall Impression

A perfect summer beer you can gulp down. Absolutely delicious. The sheer amount of aroma that hits your nose the moment you drink is a must-experience! Highly recommended! That was my Faction Brewing All In IPA review!
