Great American Beer Festival 2025 (Denver) – Full Report

I’m Riho, a craft beer enthusiast.I finally experienced Great American Beer Festival 2025 (GABF), America’s largest and one of the world’s premier craft beer events, in Denver, Colorado. Personally, this was an event I’d been dreaming about even more than Oktoberfest.

What is GABF?

The Great American Beer Festival (GABF) is America’s largest and one of the world’s premier craft beer events. This historic festival has been running since 1982 and is held annually at the Colorado Convention Center (700 14th St, Denver, CO 80202) in Denver, Colorado. Over 800 breweries from across the country gather here, offering tastings of more than 4,000 beers – a dream come true.

A beer competition is also held alongside the festival, and winning a medal instantly boosts a brewery’s national recognition. It’s often called the “Academy Awards of Beer.” The 2025 edition ran from October 9-11.

How to Buy Tickets

I highly recommend becoming an AHA (American Homebrewers Association) member to secure tickets. Members receive a ticket purchase invitation in August. Non-members can also purchase tickets, but it becomes a first-come-first-served battle, so joining AHA about a month in advance is crucial.

Ticket sales begin at 9 AM Colorado time (MDT). I completely forgot about the 1-hour time difference from Seattle and accessed the site 2 hours late, but still managed to buy tickets (laughs). Next time I’ll be more aware of the time difference.

PAIRED Zone Experience

I purchased the PAIRED + GABF combo $199 ticket. PAIRED is a zone where select breweries collaborate with chefs for food and beer pairing experiences.

• The venue is moderately sized with a relaxed atmosphere
• Select breweries gather with impressive beers across the board
• Breweries like Other Half Brewing participate exclusively here
• Plenty of seating to rest when tired
• Separate security and flow, more comfortable than the normal zone
• Closes 30 minutes earlier than the normal zone

PAIRED is absolutely recommended for solo attendees. The food-inclusive $129 price offers excellent value.

GABF Normal Zone Experience

• Huge! Just one loop takes 20-30 minutes
• Popular booths have guaranteed lines (plan your targets early)
• Beer quality was excellent, no duds
• Limited seating but manageable crowds thanks to ticket caps
• Some premium beers are normal-zone exclusive, so target them early

Reviews & Reputation

GABF has been running since 1982 and is praised in the craft beer community as a “must-attend at least once in your lifetime” event. The 2025 edition was held October 9-11. As a Brewers Association event, craft breweries from across the nation participate, with the festival growing in scale every year. It’s absolutely worth including in any beer lover’s travel plans.
